CHAIR OF JUDGES: DAN COBLEY // BLENHEIM CHALCOT // MANAGING PARTNER, FINTECH

Partner and FinTech Lead at Blenheim Chalcot, Dan Cobley previously spent over eight years at Google, as Managing Director UK & Ireland and as VP Marketing EMEA. Prior to Google, he was VP Brand and Marketing, Europe for Capital One and held senior marketing roles for Ask Jeeves and Pepsi/Walkers.

Dan has been a speaker at the TED Conference, has appeared as a technology expert on BBC's Tomorrow's World and in has been named in the top three of Wired UK's top 100, the Evening Standard’s Most Influential Londoners, and Business Insider's Coolest People in Tech. Dan has a 1st class degree in Physics from Oxford and a master’s in Manufacturing Management from Cambridge.

SIMON BLACK// RUSSELL REYNOLDS ASSOCIATES// FORMER MD, CONSUMER & COMMERCIAL FINANCIAL SERVICES

Simon has been a leader of Russell Reynolds Associates’ Financial Services and Digital Transformation Practice for 12 years. Having left the Firm in March this year, he is building a new business focused on leadership and executive search for Digital Financial Services.

His work spans consumer, commercial banking, payments and insurance and he works across the UK and internationally. Simon has 15 years of executive recruiting experience and prior to that, he served in the Royal Navy, where he gained his MBA while studying from sea, ultimately as Captain of HMS Brecon.

EILEEN BURBIDGE // PASSION CAPITAL // PARTNER

Eileen Burbidge (@eileentso) is a Partner at Passion Capital, the pre-eminent early-stage VC fund based in London. She brings extensive operational experience to her investment activities gleaned from business and product roles at Yahoo!, Skype, Apple and elsewhere.

Eileen is also Chair of Tech City UK and serves on the Prime Minister David Cameron’s Business Advisory Group; as HM Treasury’s Special Envoy for FinTech, appointed by the Chancellor George Osborne; and Tech Ambassador for the Mayor of London Boris Johnson.

She was made an MBE for services to UK Business in June 2015 and holds a BSc Engineering degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

ROB DEVEY // TOWRY // CHIEF EXECUTIVE

Rob joined Towry as Chief Executive in April 2014.

Before joining Towry, Rob was an Executive Director of Prudential Plc and Chief Executive, Prudential UK & Europe from 2009-2013. He joined Prudential from Lloyds Banking Group where he worked from 2002 in a number of senior leadership roles across insurance and retail banking. Prior to joining HBOS, Rob was a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in the UK, US and Europe.

He started his career in building design with Ove Arup following completion of his Engineering degree at Emmanuel College, Cambridge.

Rob is a Non-Executive Director of Octopus Investments and is Chair of the London Advisory Board of Business in the Community.

PATRICK W. DIEMER // AIRPLUS INTERNATIONAL // MD & CHAIRMAN

Patrick serves as Managing Director and Chairman of AirPlus International.

Patrick has lead AirPlus for more than 10 years now. He oversees all commercial aspects of the business. Previously, Patrick was General Manager of Visa International, where he directed the company’s operations in Germany. Prior to this he worked at Commerzbank as Head of Retail Marketing for private and retail banking customers, eventually becoming Senior Vice President. As a Non-Executive Director he serves on the Board of Directors of UATP. Patrick holds a Master of Economics degree from the University of Hamburg.

JAMES ELIAS // GOOGLE UK // MARKETING DIRECTOR

James heads up marketing for Google in the UK, helping consumers and large and small businesses get the most out of the web. He is responsible for driving revenue growth and product useage as well as ensuring that Google remains a loved and trusted brand in the UK. James has spent 8 years at Google in a variety of UK and European marketing roles.

Prior to Google James worked for E*TRADE and ran their UK retail business before completing an MBA at INSEAD business school in France.

James loves travel, music, food and just about any sport but especially Welsh rugby. Although these days he spends most of his time running after his 2 year old daughter.

TIM HEALY // FIX TRADING COMMUNITY // GLOBAL MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Tim has almost 30 years of experience with the financial services sector and is currently the Global Marketing and Communications Manager for the FIX Trading Community.

Tim started his career in the City working for US Equity broker, Dean Witter Reynolds, and worked his way through the ranks to become a Sales Trader. He later went on to work for PaineWebber and Citigroup in a similar role. Prior to his position at the FIX Trading Community, Tim worked for a number of different vendors and brokers involved in the electronic trading sector where he was focused on sales and account management.

J. PETER JACKSON // BANCO SANTANDER // GLOBAL HEAD OF INNOVATION

Peter recently joined Banco Santander as Global Head of Innovation, is a non-exec director of Paddy Power Betfair plc, and investor in a range of tech companies. Previously he was Group CEO of Travelex from March 2010 till March 2015, leaving following the successful sale of the business. Before Travelex, Peter was Managing Director of Consumer Banking for the Lloyds Banking Group, having previously held a number of senior roles within the Retail arm of HBOS plc before its merger with Lloyds.

DAVID KELIN // VIEWPOINT NINE LTD // DIRECTOR, BUSINESS CONSULTING

David has almost 30 years’ experience working in liquidity, treasury and cash management across leading organisations including Bank of America, Citibank, Lloyds Bank and Alterna Technologies. He has helped numerous companies set up Shared Service Centres (SSCs) and played a key role in establishing Bank of America’s SSC and Payments Factory systems during his time there.

David is a regular trainer and has developed and tutored many courses on Treasury, Cash Management and Treasury Technology across Europe and Asia. He holds a degree in Business Studies from Trinity College, Dublin and a Diploma in Advanced Marketing Techniques from the College of Marketing, Dublin.

ALAN KING // MASTERCARD PREPAID MANAGEMENT SERVICES // MANAGING DIRECTOR

Alan is Managing Director at MasterCard Prepaid Management Services, leading this fast growing business unit across a diverse set of geographies with a specific focus on replacing cross-border payment flows of cash and paper with the world’s leading multi-currency card solution.

Mr. King has been at MasterCard since 2005, working across international markets, including as Group Head, Global Prepaid Solutions, Group General Manager for market development in the UK & Ireland Division and General Manager, global account management. Prior to joining MasterCard, Mr. King worked at VISA International managing Consumer and Commercial Solutions across the CEMEA region, and at Citibank in various product and regional sales management roles in both the consumer and corporate bank.

JEROME LE LUEL // FUNDING CIRCLE // GLOBAL CRO

Jerome recently joined Funding Circle as Global Chief Risk Officer. His previous role was with Barclays where he headed up risk analytics globally across investment, corporate and retail banking, in charge of all statistical modelling, capital computation and quantitative analytics. Previously, Jerome was CRO for Barclaycard, the cards and payment business of Barclays, managing risk for a £40bn lending portfolio across Europe, Africa and the US. Prior to that, Jerome spent 12 years with credit cards specialist Capital One, joining the Europe venture at start-up stage and covering various leadership roles in risk, marketing and analytics.

MARK MILES // MCLAGAN // EUROPEAN HEAD OF WEALTH MANAGEMENT

Mark leads McLagan’s Wealth Management practice in Europe.

He has over twenty years of consulting and industry experience in financial services, largely focused on the private banking and wealth management sector. Prior to McLagan, Mark was Director at Lloyds Bank Private Banking Limited and held number of senior executive roles in Lloyds Banking Group’s Corporate Banking, Shared Services and Venture Development departments. This is complemented by several years' successful consulting experience at Gemini Consulting. Mark holds a Masters (MEng) in the Manufacturing Engineering Tripos (MET) from St John's College, Cambridge University, and completed an Accelerated Development Programme at London Business School.

PETER PLUMB // MONEYSUPERMARKET GROUP // CEO

Peter has been the CEO of MoneySuperMarket Group, a FTSE 250 company, since 2009. He was previously UK managing director of dunnhumby Limited. Before that, he was general manager of Europe Disney Consumer Products, international director of Dyson Appliances Limited and held senior commercial roles at PepsiCo International. Peter has an MBA from IMD in Switzerland and a BSC Civil Engineering from the University of Birmingham. He is also a non-executive director The Co-operative Group Limited.

CHRIS ROBINSON // CONTRADO GROUP// MANAGING PARTNER

Chris is Managing Partner of the Contrado Group. He has nearly 30 years’ experience operating at senior levels in Financial Services including spells as Chief Executive of a 'plc' specialising in advising owners of small companies, managing director of a National Intermediary, and Intermediary Sales Director of a major insurance provider.

With considerable experience implementing large scale change programmes Chris supports both strategy development and operational delivery for new concepts within corporations or standalone businesses.

Chris is a Graduate of the University of Oxford, occasional lecturer at the Cass Business School, and a sometime Member of the Institute of Financial Planning. He is 59 years old and married with three children.

DAN SALMONS // MODULR // ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER

Dan Salmons is an Advisory Board member of business banking start-up, Modulr. He was until recently Managing Director of PayPoint Mobile and Online where he led two businesses, PaybyPhone, the global parking app, and PayPoint.net, the innovative PSP successfully sold in January for £14.4m. Dan's previous roles include CEO Europe for innovation consultancy, ?WhatIf!, Global Innovations Director for Barclaycard, and VP Strategy for Capital One Europe. He has co-founded a strategy consultancy, been a director of The Glasshouse entrepreneurs forum, and sat on the global Advisory Board for Product Innovation for Roche.

Dan gained a BSc ARCS in Physics from Imperial College, where he was sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. He is a regular conference and panel speaker, and has popped up on BBC Breakfast, Radio 5 Live, and even the Chris Evans show talking about innovation.

ANDREW VORSTER // TECHNOLOGY FORESIGHT CONSULTANT

Andrew Vorster is a recognised thought leader in the financial technology space, having recently left his role of VP, Technology Research at Visa Europe for almost 10 years in order to become an independent consultant. His focus on Global Scanning and Scouting of new and emerging technologies provides organisations strategic foresight into global technology trends and their implications to society, industry and individuals. Through real-world scenarios and storytelling Andrew has provided numerous keynote sessions and workshops around Europe on how organisations can embrace new and future payment technologies and trends, helping them shape their future direction.
